Hi friends, my name is Shannon, and this is a little about myself and how SPPS came about.

I've worked with animals you could say my whole life, from age 10. My poor parents had to put up with me bringing everything home that was lost or hurt or me running off to the local pet store to help with grooming.  I have been lucky to work and learn from professionals in many industries of the pet world. Some of the animals that I have gained skills and knowledge from are but not limited to; horses, birds (both wild and exotic), cats, small animals and dogs!

I have had the wonderful opportunity to learn from veterinarians, groomers, breeders, rescues, trainers, handlers and more. Another of my sources of information is you the pet owner.  Through many of the pet industry positions that I have had, I also been able to gain knowledge from the huge suppliers and manufactures of the pet retail market.

One of my professional backgrounds is a Food and Drug Technologist. This has enabled me to work in the manufacturing of our furry family members medicinal and nutrition industries for many years.

Currently I am owned by three energetic shelties (Ice, Jenni, and Pipen) , and one cat (Puss, whose fluff puts the dogs to shame). I have the privilege of working closely with several sheltie breeders and many pet rescues.  

Outside of working with animals, I have a passion for art, reading, photography, continued education in many fields, and good cup of tea. I am diving back into the dog show world thanks to my Shelties, by handling them in the conformation show ring as well as the sport ring.

I started Shannon's Pawsitive Pet Services in 2017 for one of the best friends I've ever had, my dog Colton who has since crossed the rainbow bridge. Colton came to me through Southern Ontario Sheltie Rescue, and through working with him I was inspired to work in a field I love and provide a greatly needed service.
